4.1 Service Providers
We engage trusted third-party vendors who process information on our behalf, including: website hosting and e-commerce platform providers (Shopify), payment processors, shipping and logistics partners, email marketing platforms, analytics providers, customer support tools, fraud detection services, and cloud storage providers. These parties are contractually obligated to use your information only as directed by us and in accordance with this Policy.
4.2 Advertising & Analytics Partners
We use advertising networks (including Google Ads, Meta advertising services, and TikTok advertising services) and analytics providers (including Google Analytics) that may collect information through cookies, tracking pixels, and similar technologies on our Site. These partners use that data to help us deliver targeted advertisements on other websites and platforms and to analyze our Site traffic. Please see Section 5 for more information and opt-out options.
4.3 Legal & Regulatory Disclosures
We may disclose your information when required by law or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to: comply with legal obligations; respond to valid legal process (e.g., court orders, subpoenas); protect the rights, property, or safety of Altrila, our customers, or the public; or detect and prevent fraud or security incidents.
4.4 Business Transfers
If Altrila undergoes a merger, acquisition, sale of all or a portion of its assets, bankruptcy, or similar transaction, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via a prominent notice on our Site or by email where required by applicable law.
4.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information for other purposes with your prior consent.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
5.1 What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience, analyze Site usage, and deliver relevant advertising. Cookies may be "first-party" (set directly by Altrila) or "third-party" (set by our service providers and advertising partners). They may also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (retained on your device for a set period, such as 6 or 12 months, until they expire or you delete them).
5.2 Types of Cookies We Use
-
Operationally necessary (essential) cookies: Required for the Site to function. These enable core features such as your shopping cart, login sessions, fraud detection, and security. The Site cannot function properly without these cookies.
-
Functional cookies: Allow us to remember your preferences and settings (e.g., country/region, currency, language) and to provide enhanced features. Disabling these may limit certain Site functionality.
-
Performance / analytical cookies: Collect information about how visitors use our Site — which pages are visited most, how long users stay, and similar usage patterns. This data is used to improve Site structure and content (e.g., via Google Analytics).
-
Advertising / targeting cookies: Record your visits, the pages you view, and links you click to build a profile of your interests. We and our advertising partners (including Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok) use this information to show you relevant advertisements on other websites and to measure ad effectiveness. This is sometimes called "behavioural" or "targeted" advertising.
5.3 Other Tracking Technologies
In addition to cookies, we may use the following tracking technologies:
-
Pixel tags (web beacons / clear GIFs): Tiny invisible graphics embedded in web pages or emails that track your interactions, such as whether you opened an email or visited a specific page.
-
Flash cookies (Local Shared Objects): Used for advertisements and videos; these are not managed by your browser's cookie settings. For information on managing Flash cookies, visit Adobe's website at https://www.adobe.com/privacy/opt-out.html.
-
Scripts and embedded content: Third-party scripts (e.g., analytics SDKs, advertising pixels) embedded in our Site code that may collect data about your interactions.
5.4 Analytics
Our Site uses Google Analytics to collect and process data about how you use the Services, including pages visited, time on site, and referring URLs. Google Analytics may set and read cookies to collect this data. To opt out of Google Analytics data collection, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. For more information on how Google uses this data, visit https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners.
5.5 Advertising Networks, Remarketing, and Retargeting
We participate in advertising networks and services, including those operated by Google (Google Ads), Meta (Facebook/Instagram — the "Meta Pixel"), and TikTok (the "TikTok Pixel"). These services collect information about your visits to our Site and other websites to deliver targeted advertisements to you across the Internet based on your inferred interests and browsing behaviour.
To opt out of Google remarketing advertising or to customize your Google ad preferences, visit https://adssettings.google.com and https://safety.google/privacy/ads-and-data/. To opt out of Meta's ad targeting, visit your Meta Ad Preferences at https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences. To opt out of TikTok's ad targeting, visit TikTok's privacy settings within the TikTok app or at https://www.tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy.
To learn more about interest-based advertising and your choices, you may also visit: the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) at https://www.aboutads.info; the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) at https://optout.networkadvertising.org; the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Europe at https://www.youronlinechoices.com; https://www.allaboutcookies.org; or, for Canadian residents, the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada at https://youradchoices.ca. Please note that opting out through these tools will not affect your use of the Site; you may still see advertisements, but they will not be targeted to your interests.
Your mobile device may also offer a built-in setting to limit ad tracking ("Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt Out of Ads Personalization" on Android).
5.6 TikTok Use
Altrila maintains an active presence on TikTok. We use TikTok for brand marketing, product promotion, and customer engagement. In addition, we may implement the TikTok Pixel on our Site, which allows TikTok to collect information about visitors' interactions with our Site (such as pages viewed and purchases made) in order to measure the effectiveness of our TikTok advertising campaigns and to serve targeted advertisements to TikTok users who have expressed interest in products similar to ours.
Information collected through the TikTok Pixel may include your IP address, device identifiers, browser type, and pages visited on our Site. This information is processed by TikTok in accordance with TikTok's own Privacy Policy, available at https://www.tiktok.com/legal/privacy-policy. We encourage you to review TikTok's privacy policy. To manage your TikTok ad preferences or limit data collection, you may adjust your settings within the TikTok app under Settings > Privacy.
5.7 Social Media Widgets and Sharing
Our Site may include social media widgets, plug-ins, and sharing features for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. When you interact with these features, the respective social media company may collect information about you — including your IP address and which pages you visit — even if you do not click on a widget. Social media companies may track your activity across the web even when you are not actively interacting with their features.
We are not responsible for the data collected by third-party social media platforms. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each social media platform you use. If you do not want social media platforms to collect information about your visits to our Site, we suggest you:
-
Do not connect to or share content with social media platforms while using our Site.
-
Use an ad blocker to hide social media plug-ins.
-
Log out of all social media accounts completely before visiting our Site, and delete related cookies.
-
Where available, disable interest-based advertising within each social media platform's privacy settings.
Please note that Altrila cannot guarantee that these steps will fully prevent social media platforms from tracking your activity, and we are not responsible for the tracking practices of third-party platforms.
5.8 Embedded Content
Our Site may incorporate third-party content, including embedded videos, scripts, and feeds. Third parties providing this embedded content may collect data about how you interact with it. For example, our Site may use YouTube to display video content; by interacting with embedded YouTube videos, you are subject to YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. For more information, visit https://www.youtube.com/howyoutubeworks/user-settings/privacy/. Our Site may also incorporate Google Maps features subject to Google's Maps/Earth Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
5.9 Information Obtained from Third-Party Sources
We may obtain data about you from third-party sources, such as marketing companies, analytics consultants, publicly available social media profiles, and other public sources. We may combine this data with information we have already collected about you through the Services in order to improve the accuracy of our records, enhance our marketing relevance, and better understand our customers.
5.10 Managing Your Cookie Preferences
Most web browsers automatically accept cookies. You can configure your browser to reject cookies from specific websites, reject certain types of cookies, or delete previously stored cookies. However, disabling cookies may affect your experience on our Site — for example, your shopping cart, language preferences, and login sessions may not function correctly.
Please note that changing cookie preferences in one browser will not carry over to other browsers or devices. You may need to adjust your settings separately on each browser or device you use.
5.11 Do-Not-Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals your preference not to be tracked across websites. Because there is currently no universally accepted technical standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, our Site does not alter its data collection practices in response to DNT browser requests. We will continue to collect information as described in this Policy regardless of a DNT signal.
6. Your Rights
Under certain circumstances and subject to applicable laws, supported by a written request and proof of identification, you may access personal information that we have collected, used or disclosed, and/or ask that it be corrected, and/or withdraw your consent to our disclosure or use of your information.
As required or permitted by applicable law, you may be entitled to additional rights, including: (i) the right to control the dissemination of your Information; (ii) the right to receive computerized information collected from you in a structured, commonly used and technological format and to have this information transferred directly to another organization; (iii) the right to be informed of and submit observations regarding automated decision-making; and (iv) the right to request information about data processing.
Finally, you also have a right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority, in particular in the region where you normally reside, where we are based or where an alleged infringement of data protection law has taken place.
If you have any questions or want to exercise any of your rights in relation to your Personal Information with us, please contact us at privacy@altrila.com.
7. Payment Processing
All payment transactions are processed by third-party payment processors (including Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and others as displayed at checkout). We do not store your full credit or debit card details on our servers. Your payment information is handled directly by these processors in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable payment card industry (PCI-DSS) standards. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of your chosen payment provider.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Policy, including to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. For example:
-
Order and transaction records are typically retained for 7 years to comply with tax and financial reporting obligations.
-
Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter.
-
Marketing consent records are retained until you withdraw consent.
-
Customer support records are retained for up to 3 years.
When personal information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.
9. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (SSL/TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
If you become aware of any security concern related to our Site, please notify us immediately at privacy@altrila.com.
10. International Data Transfers
Altrila is based in Canada and primarily serves customers in Canada and the United States. If you access our Services from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Canada or other countries where our service providers operate. Different countries may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
Where required by applicable law, we take steps to ensure that such transfers are made in compliance with applicable privacy regulations, including through the use of standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
11. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child, please contact us at privacy@altrila.com.
12. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our Site may contain links to third-party websites, including our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and partner sites. This Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update or modify this Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy and post the revised Policy on our Site. For significant changes, we may also notify you by email or by displaying a prominent notice on our Site. Your continued use of our Services after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
